I Found What I Was Not Looking For!

There’s no denying I’m a car guy. I owned a 1972 Mustang MACH1 351 Cleveland that my uncle gave me as a graduation gift and later a 1987 Porsche 944 turbo in my mid-20s. So, when I set out to find a nice sports or Muscle car in 2007, I wasn’t looking for a Corvette.

All of the sudden, I saw a post on Craigslist for a 1991 C4 Corvette at a very reasonable price in NC. As I am from Norfolk, VA, I had to drive for an hour just to go and see the car. The owner fell on hard times and the Corvette was the only possession of value he had. As I pulled up to his house, I saw a nice cream color car cover outside of his garage. Recognizing the silhouette, I got excited. I took that C4 Corvette for a country road beat down to see how it handle and it was instant love! I have not driven anything like it! The massive burn out I made was more than 60 feet long and not on one tire, but both rear tires at once, like a synchronized dance.

I couldn't contain my excitement when I got back to his house and asked him how much. To my surprise, the price had DROPPED since I first say the post. I almost had an aneurism as I counted out his asking price, hugged him and grinned from ear to ear like I just got away with something. I left as fast as I could, as if thinking that he was going to stop me and demand more money.

On my way back to VA, I took that baby on I64 and floored it to 127mph without even thinking. Fast forward to 2015 and it’s completely restored. I gave it to my son as a graduation gift in 2014 and I am looking for a respectable C5 to buy. This is Our Story.
